Paperjack Elementary School Music Department was recently awarded a grant from the St. Croix Valley Foundation.  Music teacher, Jodi Mealey, requested the funds to purchase 30 Remo Konga Drums to use during music class. The St. Croix Valley Foundation funded the entire purchase, awarding the school $864. New Richmond police Lt. Veronica Koehler displays a pair of shoes to St. Croix County jurors last month during Cristian Nunez’s homicide trial. Prosecutors said the shoes, found stashed in a dumpster, belonged to Nunez. DNA testing revealed the shoes contained the blood of murder victim Courtney Bradford. Somerset Elementary School students got the chance to decorate principal Dr. Chris Kamrath like a present after surpassing the school’s goal for the Toys for Tots drive. The drive lasted three weeks and the students were shooting to beat the 145 gifts record they had set last year. The school collected 150 gifts by the end of this year’s drive, with the help of the Somerset S.A.C. program, students, staff and their families. (Submitted photo)
