Schachtner defeats Jarchow in special election

Business expands for second time in two years

New Richmond Mayor Fred Horne (right) and Planning and Community Development Director Robert Barbian (second from left) visited Accelerated Plastics last week to get an update on the company's progress. Accelerated Plastics' President Bill Johnson (left) and Director of Sales and Marketing Kevin Rottinghaus provided the tour.

Accelerated Plastics, located in the New Richmond Business & Technical Park, continues to experience accelerated growth.

As a result, the injection molding business is expanding by adding a second building. Company officials hope to move into their new facility in about a month or so.

According to Kevin Rottinghaus, director of sales and marketing for Accelerated Plastics, the company is attracting new business on a regular basis these days. They design and manufacture plastic parts and products for a variety of customers.

Rottinghaus said the company has seen a big jump in sales in the toy and adolescent market.

Because so many toys and other child products made in China have been recalled recently due to lead and other chemical issues, companies are looking for injection molders in the United States to meet their product needs.

With the growing demand for its products and services, Accelerated Plastics is now running three shifts and operating 24 -hours a day.

President Bill Johnson said the company is also providing assembly, packaging and distribution services to some of their clients, which also has helped to improve Accelerated Plastics' bottom line.

Rottinghaus said the business hopes to start a call center in the near future to drum up even more business for Accelerated Plastics.

The company is adding employees as the demand for service and products grows.

Accelerated Plastics, which has been in business for five years, completed the construction of a 6,912-square-foot production facility in New Richmond in early 2009. A 5,076-square-foot addition was almost immediately added to this facility.

The facility currently under construction is 11,988 square feet. It will include space for offices, production and warehousing. It is being erected just south of Accelerated's current facility.

The City of New Richmond assisted Accelerated Plastics through the use of tax Incremental Financing.
