Mild temperatures and the lure of s'mores, a parade and fireworks was enough to lure hundreds of community members, young and old alike, down to Knowles Avenue Thursday evening, Nov. 30 for the inaugural Hometown Holidays Parade presented by the New Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

More than a dozen floats decked out in holiday cheer paraded down Knowles while s'mores and hot cider stations kept families smiling on the sidewalks.

Following the parade the crowd took over the intersection of Knowles and West First Street as New Richmond Citizen of the Year Rachel Sauvola pulled the switch and lit the Christmas Trees in front of the Library. Moments later, hundreds looked on and cheered as a festive finale of fireworks over the Mill Pond finished off New Richmond's Hometown Holiday.

Taking home first place in the first annual Hometown Holiday Parade float contest was Westfields Hospital & Clinics. Along with taking home first place in the contest, Westfields will also get the premier location in the Fun Fest Parade - first float after the Grand Marshall. Taking home second place was WITC.
