The Friends of St. Croix Wetland Management District partnered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Westfields Hospital & Clinic to present a free Bluebird Workshop hosted by The Deerfield on Saturday, March 10..

Audience members were treated to a presentation by Lowell Peterson, from the Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin, on cavity nesting birds found in the area including Tree Swallow, Black-capped Chickadee, House Wren and the workshops' primary focus, the Eastern Bluebird. Peterson's presentation addressed the best habitat to attract birds, how to minimize predation, bluebird box styles and the value of nest box monitoring. Several members from the St. Croix Valley Bird Club shared their experience with maintaining bluebird houses. Attendees were able to pick up box plans and handouts and two lucky people received free bluebird houses.
