Students from Paperjack, Hillside and Starr elementaries in New Richmond, along with WESTconsin Credit Union, recently held food drives to donate the food to Five Loaves Food Shelf in New Richmond.
Paperjack Elementary teachers and students conducted a food and clothing drive just in time for Thanksgiving. On Nov. 24, teachers and students delivered 181 pounds of donated food -- enough to provide 46 backpacks for children in need. Children also collected many bags of clothing for those in need in the community.
Hillside Elementary teachers and students conducted a food drive as well and also donated their food, 389 pounds of it, to the food shelf on Nov. 24. The food will help enable the food shelf to fill 56 backpacks of food for children and their families over the weekend.
Starr Elementary teachers and students conducted a food drive just in time for Thanksgiving. On Nov. 23, School Counselor Lauren Glinsky delivered 322 pounds of donated food - enough to provide 46 backpacks for children in need.
Westconsin Credit Union conducted its annual hat and mitten drive among your credit union members and recently delivered the bags of warm clothing to Five Loaves.
On Nov. 20, SMC Ltd. donated 160 turkeys for clients at Five Loaves Food Shelf in New Richmond. Weighing in at 2080 pounds, the donation ensured that area families had turkey on their plates at Thanksgiving time. Five Loaves volunteers and workers at Econo Foods in Somerset helped load the vehicles for delivery. The Bridge Program of New Richmond Schools for helping us unload over one ton of turkeys.
