The communications committee of a private capital campaign to raise $2.5 million to expand Somerset Public Library has chosen the theme for the campaign: Renew Somerset Library — Help Write the Next Chapter.
Art students from both Somerset High School and St. Anne's Catholic School submitted design ideas for consideration. Madelyn Hoehler's sketch of a bookworm was tweaked by graphic designers at Hudson's Minuteman Press and incorporated into the new logo. Taylor Johnson was the one who came up with the phrasing for the logo, which will be used throughout the campaign on letterhead, brochures and official correspondence.
"We're grateful for the students' participation. Madelyn's design best showcased elements of the campaign upon which we want to focus: renewing our library by tripling the space to serve our growing community and developing innovative programs and services to meet evolving needs," said communications committee co-chair Joan Detloff.
The Somerset Public Library Board of Trustees is financing the capital campaign which is managed by Crescendo Fundraising Professionals, LLC, and its owner, Ellen Hongerholt, M.A. and Jamie Schloegel, C.F.R.E.
"We aren't jumping into our campaign quickly or lightly. We have worked for several years putting together a design plan that will be effective for the next 25 years as our area grows," said Foundation Treasurer Rita Lawson. "We have a great start planning the foundation for a successful campaign. Based on input and data secured from a philanthropic study, we are preparing to initiate soliciting donors a few months from now."
