CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:04 p.m. by Vice President Kolbeck in accordance with notice given to the New Richmond News.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion by Chris Skoglund to approve the agenda as presented. Greg Gartner seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

ANNUAL MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL CO-CURRICULAR REPORTS
Michele Wood, Assistant Principal and Activities Director for the Middle School and Casey Eckardt, Assistant Principal and Activities Director at the High School provided co-curricular activity reports from the 2016-2017 school year for the Middle School and High School. Keith Badger provided an update on the activities code.
CONSENT AGENDA
Appointments, Reassignments, Resignations, Compensation, Adjustments; Approval of Monthly Bills; Approval of Minutes; Grant/Gift Approvals
• Change in Powerlifting coaching pay increment distribution for the following: Brian Kaczmarski (from $2,500 to $1,750), Brian Montpetit (from $2,500 to $1,750), Troy Cran (from $2,000 to $1,750) and Brad Hildebrandt ($1,750);

• Bosch Community Fund Grant for First Robotics in the amount of $10,000;
• Approval of AnnMarie Foundation Grant in the amount of $900 to Community Education for the Starr Mentor Program;
• AnnMarie Foundation Grant in the amount of $4,000 to Project Lead the Way;
• Educational Foundation of New Richmond Jack Reckord Star Grant Awards to: Vanessa Thompson from Paperjack Elementary in the amount of $300 for book series; Maggie Johnston from Paperjack Elementary in the amount of $300 for leveled library; Karen Storie from Starr Elementary in the amount of $417.68 for Early Childhood sensory items; Annie Bauer from Starr Elementary in the amount of $175 for interactive multi-sensory games; Laura Ulrich from Hillside Elementary in the amount of $300 for classroom library; Jamie Kleiner, all Elementary Schools in the amount of $1,000 for wooden rekenreks; Teri Alwes from the High School in the amount of $500 for Spanish language materials;
• $2,000 for scholarships awarded to 2017 graduates from New Richmond Farmers Union Co-op;
• Twin Cities Opera Guild Grant in the amount of $790 for Opera for the Young performance at the elementary schools;
• National FFA Living to Serve Grant in the amount of $1,200;
• Knights of Columbus donation to the Special Services Department in the amount of $500;
• New Richmond Farmers Union Co-op Grant for the SOAR Education Center in the amount of $1,000;
• Ryan Dennis Olson Memorial Scholarship donation in the amount of $500;
• Donation of a car valued at $837 from Tim Sager to the High School auto shop;
• Donation of glazes valued at $1,168.09 from Mercury Mosaics & Tile, Inc. to the art program;
Motion by Neal Melby to approve the consent agenda items as presented. Marilyn Duerst seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.
PERSONNEL
Retirement of Cheryl Emerson – Supervisor of Community Education
Motion by Chris Skoglund to approve the retirement of Cheryl Emerson, Supervisor of Community Education as presented and thank her for her years of service. Neal Melby seconded the motion.
Motion carried 6-0.
Approval of Tiger Pack Staffing Proposal
Motion by Chris Skoglund to approve the additional hours required for Tiger Pack staffing as presented. Greg Gartner seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.
Approval of Additional Paraprofessional Position
Motion by Neal Melby to approve the request for an additional paraprofessional position to work 35 hours per week at the elementary level as proposed. Marilyn Duerst seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.
DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR REPORT
January Work Session
A date for the January work session to discuss Core Success will be set at a later date.
High School and Middle School Activities Fee
This item was discussed with Casey Eckardt, Michele Wood and Keith Badger after their presentations. Board members would like to see comparisons from Middle Border Conference schools, Big Rivers Conference schools and other schools around the state with the same enrollment size as New Richmond. They would also like to see hockey fees including ice time from other communities.
FINANCIAL AFFAIRS
Monthly Bill Auditing
Board member Marilyn Duerst reviewed the monthly bills with Brian Johnston, Director of Fiscal and Building Operations before the meeting. Everything was found to be in order.
September Financial Statements
Brian Johnston reviewed the September financial statements with Board members.
Approval of One Ton Truck Replacement Recommendation
Motion by Greg Gartner to approve the bid from Johnson Motors for a 2018 one ton truck for a total price of $46,120.00 as recommended. Neal Melby seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.
Approve the Purchase of a Combi Oven at the Middle School
Motion by Greg Gartner to approve the purchase of a combi oven for the Middle School from Metropolitan Food Service Equipment for a price of $18,671.00 as recommended. Chris Skoglund seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.
OTHER BUSINESS
Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) Report – (Kolbeck)
Board members were reminded of the State Convention being held in Milwaukee January 17-19, 2018.
CESA #11 Board Report – (Duerst)
No report.
Board Meeting Evaluation
Vice President Kolbeck asked Board members to fill out the evaluation and leave with Julie Koop.
