A-1 Priority Insurance Agency LLC has opened on the main street of Roberts.

Local residents Todd and Kim Hamilton were in the insurance business for the past year in the Twin Cities area, before relocating the office to Roberts.

Kim Hamilton said the couple took over the insurance agency that was operated by Todd's father for more than 30 years.

But after commuting to their Blaine, Minn. office for many months, the couple decided it was time to move their business east.

"This is where we live," Kim said. "The commute to here is much easier than going to the city."

As a local business, she said, A-1 Priority Insurance Agency will be very involved in local charities, as well as partnering with area businesses to grow the economy.

"We want to do a lot with the community," she said, adding that they'd like to help sponsor teen events and scholarships for area young people.

The Hamiltons are members of the local Lions Club and expect to be involved in that group's activities for years to come.

As for A-1 Priority, the agency is licensed in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Hamiltons will work with businesses and individuals to meet their insurance needs.

Kim said the office is an independent agency, working with a number of insurance companies to find the best rates and coverage for clients.

The office, located at 111 W. Main Street, is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Kim said the Hamiltons will meet with clients at other times of the day or during the weekend by appointment.

The agency conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday afternoon. The Rev. Del Permann, pastor of the Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ, was on hand to dedicate and bless the new business.

The ambassadors with the Central St. Croix Area Chamber of Commerce then helped with the ribbon cutting ceremony.

An open house for the public was conducted on Saturday.
