11 Wisconsin women hockey players compete for spots on national team
Eleven current and former Wisconsin women's hockey players will compete for spots on the U.S. national team.
They're among 41 players invited to the Women's National Festival Aug. 18- 24 in Blaine, Minn.
A roster will be chosen for a 10-game tour from Sept. 25 until the start of next year's Olympics in Vancouver.
Twenty-one players for the Olympic roster will be announced in December.
Brooke Ammerman, Meghan Duggan and Hilary Knight are the current Badgers who will take part, along with incoming freshman Brianna Decker.
Recent Wisconsin graduates Erika Lawyer, Jessie Vetter and Angie Keseley will also try out, plus former Badgers Kerry Weiland and Jinelle Zaugg and returning Wisconsin Olympians Molly Engstrom and Chanda Gunn.
