The Roberts Village Park building was filled with blankets, and crocheted caps and cardboard boxes on Sunday, Nov. 4.

The Roberts Ribbon Reapers 4-H group teamed with other 4-H and community groups to make blankets and caps for military personnel serving overseas.

On Sunday, the blankets and hats were packed into boxes and prepared to be sent overseas. The group filled 49 boxes with 94 blankets and 155 caps. The boxes were mailed out on Monday.

Among the groups that contributed to Roberts Ribbon Reapers 4-H Club's efforts were the Wisconsin State 4-H Foundation, Knight Riders Snowmobile Club, Lone Pine 4-H Club, Baldwin Wide Awake 4-H Club, a Homemaker club, 4-H alumni, Double Good 4-H Club, Pine Lakers 4-H Club, Dry Run Go Getters 4-H Club, the Roberts Library, the New Richmond VFW Auxiliary and the River Falls American Legion Riders Association.

"We're just really excited about all the participation we've gotten," said Patti Robertson, Roberts Ribbon Reapers 4-H Club leader.

Robertson said the project was part of the community service component of 4-H. She said the idea to send blankets to the military came about, in part, because some former Roberts Ribbon Reapers members have gone into the military.

"We felt this was a nice tie in to connect with those former members and other members of the 4-H family," Robertson said.

Robertson said Roberts Ribbon Reapers will be sending blankets to overseas military personnel again in February.
