Aaron Schaffhausen won't testify
New Richmond Wisconsin 127 South Knowles Avenue 54017

Aaron Schaffhausen, who pleaded guilty to killing his three daughters last July, told the judge this morning that he will not testify in court.

The prosecution will now begin to present its case in the trial, which is to determine whether Schaffhausen was legally sane at the time of the killings.

Yesterday the defense called its last witness, a clinical psychologist who maintained Schaffhausen was not mentally competent.

Schaffhausen, 35, has pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one count of attempted arson in the July 10, 2012 slayings of Amara, age 11; Sophie, 8; and Cecilia, 5.

His defense team claims Schaffhausen was suffering from a mental illness at the time and therefore not legally responsible for their deaths.
