ALERT: Winter storm warning in effect for St. Croix County
St. Croix County and Polk County are under a winter stormwarning from Saturday afternoon through 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for St. Croix County and it remains in effect until 6 am CST Sunday.
The Winter Storm Warning is for an area along and north of a line from the Twin Cities to Chippewa Falls.
Snow will occur late this afternoon and this evening for much of east central Minnesota into west central Wisconsin. Two to six inches of snow is possible from the Twin Cities to Rice Lake and
Chippewa Falls, with the heaviest totals from Cambridge to Rice Lake.
Brisk northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph will develop tonight. This will likely cause blowing and drifting snow in rural areas with poor visibilities resulting.
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel if
necessary. If you do travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
