'Annie Jr.' shines on Old Gem stage
The Old Gem Theater's Young Performers Ensemble presents "Annie Jr." on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m.
Based on the classic comic strip, Little Orphan Annie, "Annie Jr." tells the story of orphans trying to make it in Depression-era New York City.
Surrounded by colorful characters, Annie is dropped into the lap of luxury in a millionaire's mansion and works her way into everyone's heart. "Annie Jr." is a condensed version of the Broadway smash hit "Annie" and features all the favorite tunes from that show, including "It's a Hard Knock Life," "Easy Street," and "Tomorrow."
The all-student cast of "Annie Jr." features: Ravyn Swanson, Lily Deschene, Melanie Greeley, Sean Pazdera, Kinsey Novotne, Talia Ficociello all of New Richmond and Megan Prax and Cally Meixner of Somerset.
Long-time Old Gem Company Member, Virginia Haggart directs the cast.
"It has been such a joy to work with these young actors," said Haggart. "Most of them get to play multiple characters and it is so fun to see them grow as performers."
Tickets are $11 for adults and $9 for students and seniors.
