Area programs spread the magic of giving
The Holiday Angels program is as much a tradition in Roberts and Hammond during the holiday season as is decorating a tree or visiting Santa Claus.
The program, which has existed for more than 20 years, is again collecting donations to help financially struggling families in the St. Croix Central School District.
Committee Chair Sandy Goulette said last year the Angels helped 47 families, which included 126 children.
The Roberts Lions, Hammond Lions, school organizations, businesses and individuals come together every year to make Christmas wishes come true for these families.
Goulette said monetary donations are always welcome, as well as gifts of new, unwrapped toys and clothing. Mittens and hats are especially welcome.Donations can be dropped off at the Village Hall, the Hazel Mackin Community Library, Citizens’ State Bank or to Goulette at the police station in Roberts; and the Village Hall/Police Department, Community Library, the Hair Junction and Attitudes Salon in Hammond.Donations or nominations for families are due by Dec. 11 at the absolute latest, Goulette said. Checks can be made out to the Roberts Lions Foundation. While Goulette has more than enough volunteers for the shopping and packing of the gifts, they appreciate anyone willing to donate. Monetary donations can be sent to Sandy Goulette, 775 103rd St., Roberts, WI 54023 or dropped off at the Police Department. For those signing up for the program, or nominating a family, please include the following information: contact name and phone number for the family (will be kept confidential), ages and genders of each child, clothing and shoe sizes of the children (if you can), gift suggestions (separating needs and wants) and any other information deemed helpful, such as a child’s favorite things.Elementary School Giving TreeSCC Elementary is also sponsoring a Giving Tree this holiday season.
