April 25

Parents of 911 Hero to Speak, Trollhaugen Ski Resort, Dresser. Tom and Beverly Burnett will share stories about how their son Tom and the other passengers of Flight 93 realized the intent of their hijackers. Tickets are $25 and include dinner. United Fire & Rescue Smelt Fry, 4:30 - 9 p.m., American Legion, Baldwin. All you can eat smelt, beans, cole slaw, chips, bread, cold beverages and coffee. Proceeds will benefit Baldwin Fire Station equipment fund.

April 26

Earth Day Celebration, 1-3 p.m., Amery Centennial Hall & Senior Center, 608 Harriman South, Amery, WI. Groups such as The Natural Step, Midwest Recycling, Northwest Wisconsin Regional Food Nework, Greenway Presentation and Conscious Living Arts will have informational displays. Food Drive, Scouting groups in New Richmond and Star Prairie will be placing plastic bags on door handles before Saturday. Scouts are asking residents to fill bags with non-perishable food items that will be collected at 9 a.m. on April 26. For infomation contact Debbie Lyons at 715-246-6245.

Willow River Piecemakers Quilt Guild, 10:30 a.m.-noon, New Richmond Civic Center, 156 E. First, Street. Two authors of the book "The Clothesline & Other Quilt" will present slides of six quilts from the book.
