Art & Culinary Show seeks artists, chefs
Planning is underway for the ninth annual St. Croix Art and Culinary Show, sponsored by the Rotary Club of New Richmond.
The show features area artists displaying, demonstrating and performing their skills. Local chefs and restaurants also serve up samples of some of their favorite dishes. Spirits from 45th Parallel and beer from Brady’s Brewhouse will also be available along with some sort of live entertainment. A chef showdown, which debuted last year, will once again be part of the show.
The theme for this year’s event is “Experience the Globe.”
“The theme is about diversity and just trying new things,” said Art and Culinary Show Chairperson Jo Wrich.
The variety from the theme also applies to the artists.
“We are looking for local artists in a variety of media,” Wrich said. “It’s been popular in the past to have a variety from pottery to watercolor to jewelry to photography. This year we’ll have handmade quilts.”
Artists can contact Carol DeYoung at firstname.lastname@example.org by Jan. 29 to sign up.
“We are looking for a variety of local chefs who want to show off their specialities,” Wrich said. “And with the theme ‘Experience the Globe,’ we’re trying to find some new and interesting appetizers and desserts to share with our guests.”
Chefs can contact Sue Johnson at 715-246-5282 by Jan. 29 to sign up.
Tickets are $40 and can be purchased starting in early March at Ready Randy’s, the New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce office and online.
Funds raised support the STRIVE scholarship program in the New Richmond area and the Rotary Club’s education programs. STRIVE provides an incentive to high school students to boost their GPA in preparation for a secondary education. More than 300 people attended the St. Croix Art and Culinary Show last year, and more than $11,000 was raised.
