Art, culinary show shifts to a Sunday to add participants
New Richmond Wisconsin 127 South Knowles Avenue 54017

Planning for the third annual Art & Culinary Show is well underway.

The 2008 event, sponsored by the Rotary Club of New Richmond, is set for Sunday, April 20. The event will run from 4 to 8 p.m. at R&D Catering facility south of New Richmond.

"No year is ever going to be the same," said Jo Wrich, one of the show's organizers. "We're going to switch it up."

The biggest change this year will be holding the show on Sunday. Wrich said Sundays are when many restaurants are closed, so more culinary artists might be available to participate.

The goal is to attract 15 different restaurants and caterers to the show, along with 20-22 artists who will display their wares.

"That seems to be a good number of artists," Wrich said. "There is some jurying, so not every artist gets in. We hope to have some of the popular artists from the past return, as well as some new artists."

Deadline for applications for participating artists and culinary artists is Jan. 25. Contact Wrich at 243-3903 for more information or to apply.

Another new feature will be several door prizes, where attendees can buy a chance to bring home fine art following the show.

Many of the popular features of the first two shows will return this year. There will be plenty of gourmet food samples, along with wine and spirit tasting.

Local chefs will be on hand for food preparation demonstrations, and live music will be provided throughout the event. Several live and silent auctions of artwork will be conducted during the Art & Culinary Show as well.

Honorary chairpersons for this year's show are artistic chair Melissa Huber and culinary chair Rhonda Zontelli.

Ticket prices remain the same as last year, $40 per person. That entitles each person to unlimited food and wine and spirit samples.

Tickets for the event should be available beginning the first week in March. Only a limited number of tickets are available.

Last year, more than $10,000 was raised to help fund Rotary-sponsored programs such as the STRIVE Scholarships.
