Art event planned at state park
Willow River State Park and the friends group, Willow River OWLs (Organization for Wildlife Learning), invite everyone to a day of arts and entertainment on Sunday, June 8.
Beginning at 10 a.m., more than 40 artists from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa will be showing and selling their arts and crafts near the Nature Center in Willow River State Park, 1034 County Road A, Hudson, Wis.
In addition to the art show, there will be family activities throughout the day.
Other activities include children's arts and crafts activity area, sponsored by The Phipps Center for the Arts, helping to celebrate their 25th anniversary, and storytelling by Mary Davis, the Hudson children's librarian.
Also this year there will be a skull demonstration and a kids fishing pole casting clinic presented by Mike Reiter of New Richmond, and train rides through the park with Engineer Don LaCasse. Be sure to visit the St. Croix Historical Society display area.
Highlighted will be the silent auction. Participating artists have generously donated a piece of their work to be auctioned off. Proceeds from the auction will go to help fund the OWLs environmental education programs.
A must-do is to stop in the Nature Center to see all the interactive displays and shop in the nature-based Hidden Ponds Book and Gift Shop.
There will be food concessions available through out the day.
Activities will wrap up at 4 p.m. This fun-filled day is guaranteed to have something for everyone.
