Auditor to examine Dane County 911 center
It looks like Dane County is about to get an outside auditor to study its 911 Center, after it bungled a call from murder victim Brittany Zimmermann.
According to the Madison Capital Times, County Board Chairman Scott McDonell expects the Executive Committee to approve an independent audit on June 4.
The 911 Center has been under the microscope ever since we learned that Zimmermann called just moments before she was killed on April 2, and police were never told about that.
County Executive Kathleen Falk also said another mistake caused Madison Police to chase a false lead for about two weeks.
Officers are still looking for the killer.
Three supervisors are holding a meeting on Monday night in Fitchburg to try and get answers about what happened and why.
McConnell criticized the meeting, saying everyone can express their concerns to the Executive Committee and it's time for fresh eyes to examine the 911 Center.
