Badgers open training camp today
The University of Wisconsin football team will open its preseason camp in Madison today (Monday).
Head Coach Bret Bielema recently said all his players will be available to at least some degree, but we won't know how much for sure, since Bielema is closing all but one of his practices to reporters.
Corners Allen Langford and Aaron Henry are both coming off torn ACL knee ligaments and defensive linemen Matt Shaughnessy, Dan Moore, Kirk DeCremer, Mike Newkirk, and Jason Chapman are all coming off major injuries.
Meanwhile, quarterbacks will be open to hits at certain practices for the first time.
Linebacker DeAndre Levy says it gives defenders some more live action, while giving the quarterbacks a test that's not as fast as in an actual game.
Bielema says he'll make sure the quarterbacks are not put at risk. Among that group, only senior Allan Evridge has started a college game. That was back in 2005 at Kansas State.
