Badgers pull off OT win against Fresno, despite flu
New Richmond Wisconsin 127 South Knowles Avenue 54017

Wisconsin football coach Bret Bielema hopes the Badgers are a lot healthier when they host Wofford on Saturday.

Bielema said more than 40 players had flu-like symptoms at one point last week and about a half-dozen players were getting IV fluids just before last Saturday's game started against Fresno State.

Corner Aaron Henry called the team's trainer at 1:30 a.m. Saturday because he was throwing up. He played, but did not last long.

The Badgers pulled off a 34-31 double overtime victory over Fresno State.

Safety Jay Valai, who was sick for much of the week, said it forced his team to "man up" and get ready despite the conditions.

Safety Chris Maragos, who made the game-winning interception in the second overtime, said the win showed how resilient the Badgers are.
