The program is an exciting opportunity to help cancer patients in the community to receive the information, attention and care they deserve to restore their appearance when going through the cancer journey.

"Look Good . . . Feel Better" was founded by the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association Foundation, in partnership with the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association.

The program is product and salon neutral and sessions and materials are provided free of charge.

Certified cosmetologists help female cancer patients improve their appearance and self-image by teaching them beauty techniques to overcome the appearance-related effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

The next training event is set for Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 5-9 p.m. Dinner will be provided. The training will take place at American Cancer Society Office, 2520 Pilot Knob Road, Ste. 150, Mendota Heights, Minn.

There is an immediate need for trained cosmetologists for programs at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond and River Falls Area Hospital.

For more information on the program locally contact Cyndi Cashman at (715) 262-5198 or Kerrin Frey at (715) 425-1106.

Upcoming "Looking Good ... Feel Better" sessions at Westfields Hospital are set for March 3, May 5, July 7 and Sept. 8.

Sessions at River Falls are slated for 7 p.m. Feb. 4, April 7, June 2, Aug. 4 and Dec. 1, 2008.
