Beebe celebrates professional milestone
For more than 100 years, the Beebe family has been involved in the funeral home business in New Richmond.
On June 12, the fourth member of the Beebe clan was honored with a certificate of recognition for 50 years service to the funeral director's profession. He was honored by the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association at its 132nd annual convention.
Prior to Jim Beebe's recognition, his parents Laurence and Adeline and his brother John were also honored for 50 years in the funeral home business.
Jim Beebe said it's unusual for four members of the same family to share the honor of 50 years of service.
"I've looked forward to this for a number of years," he said. Beebe sold his family's funeral home and furniture business in 2008 but has maintained his involvement in the profession. He continues to complete continuing education credits necessary to maintain his licensure.
"I still consider myself quite active," he said.
During his career, Beebe served 13 years on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association. He also served as president for the Chippewa-St. Croix Funeral Directors Association district organization.
At this year's annual convention, six people were honored with 50-year plaques, but only four could attend the event.
