Bosch hosts run, walk event for community
As part of its "Healthy for Life" employee wellness program, Bosch Packaging Technology is hosting a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, Aug. 4.
The event, which is open to the community, starts at 7:45 a.m. The run/walk will begin and end at the Bosch facility, 869 S. Knowles Ave. in New Richmond. Kids can join the fun in their own one-mile Fun Run.
Awards and prize drawings will be held following the race at 9:15 a.m. All proceeds will be donated to charity. On-site registration will be available from 6:30-7:30 a.m. Participants can also register online at www.active.com. The fee is $20 in advance or $22 on the day of the race. Entry fee for the kids' race is $10 (no shirt) or $15 (including a shirt).

The Bosch Healthy for Life employee wellness program provides free resources to support Bosch employees in their efforts to get and stay healthy. Available also to spouses and dependents under the age of 18, the program includes various components such as online and onsite screenings and risk assessment, health coaching, condition management, as well as lifestyle activities geared toward healthy eating, exercise and stress management.
A BMI (body mass index) Campaign was initiated to promote Healthy Weight for Life, Healthy Moving for Life, Healthy Eating for Life and Healthy Numbers for Life throughout the year.
With Bosch's partnership with Weight Watchers International, employees in New Richmond lost over 1,300 pounds in just over one year. Bosch offers up to 100 percent reimbursement to associates who participate in and complete the Weight Watchers sessions.
In its current company-wide fitness challenge, all Bosch employees in North America were challenged to walk half-a-million steps or more in 12 weeks for the chance to win great prizes.
