Brewers close out 1-5 home stand against red-hot Cardinals...
The Milwaukee Brewers closed out a dismal 1-5 home stand Wednesday with a 5-1 loss to St. Louis.
Adam Wainwright picked up his Major League-leading 18th victory.
He pitched seven scoreless innings, as he gave up five hits and struck out six.
Wainwright and Cardinals' teammate Chris Carpenter have given up just one run in their last 39 and a-third innings.
Carpenter threw a one-hitter against Milwaukee on Monday.
The Brewers only scored 10 runs in their six-game home stand, while batting just .169. Felipe Lopez homered for Milwaukee's only run Wednesday.
Albert Pujols homered twice, giving him 47 on the year.
The Cardinals have won 10 of their last 12, and they kept an 11.5 game lead in the National League Central.
The Brewers have lost seven of their last nine, dropping to 17 games back in the division and 13.5 back for the Wild Card.
Either way, they're long out of it. The Brewers are off today, and will play at Arizona Friday.
