Brewers end winning streak; face Pirates tonight
The Milwaukee Brewers broke a four-game winning streak Sunday, falling 3-2 at Houston.
Pudge Rodriguez had the game-winning hit, a solo home run in the fourth inning off Manny Parra, who gave up three runs in five frames and dropped to 0-4.
Ex-Brewer Carlos Lee had an RBI single, and Astros' pitcher Russ Ortiz scored on an error by Rickie Weeks.
Ortiz got the win, giving up two runs on four hits in five innings.
He's now 2-0. Jose Valverde pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save. Mike Cameron had a run-scoring double and Jason Kendall hit an RBI single for the Brewers.
Both went 2-3 on the day, as both teams had seven hits apiece.
The Brewers finished their nine-game road trip at 5-4, but they blew a chance to sweep a three-game series in Houston for the first time in team history.
Closer Trevor Hoffman returned to the Milwaukee bullpen, after a minor league rehab outing in the wake of a strained oblique muscle.
Hoffman did not pitch in the game. The Brewers will open a three-game series with Pittsburgh tonight at Miller Park.
Right-hander Braden Looper will face Pirates' right-hander Jeff Karstens.
