Carnival raises funds to support school
From pirates and ponies to hundreds of prizes, the St. Croix Central Elementary School Spring Carnival on Friday, April 29, had it all.
According to Panther Parent Group President Missy Gruenes, there were an estimated 200-300 people in attendance at the event, raising around $6,000. A Schwan's Truckload Sale earned an additional $850 for the school and Panther Parent Group sponsored activities.
With more than two dozen activities, there was no shortage of fun for those families in attendance.
Some of the most popular activities at the pirate-themed carnival were the bounce house, petting zoo and crazy hair-dos.
Raffles included themed gift baskets and treasure chests donated and put together by the SCC teachers and their students. Themes included a popcorn basket, chocolate basket and fishing treasure chest.
"They were absolutely beautiful," said Gruenes.
Families who brought in a book for the future 4-year-old kindergarten program received one free ticket at the carnival.
Gruenes said the Panther Parent Group thought the 2011 spring carnival was a success.
"It was a great turnout and the Panther Parent Group really appreciates the community's support," said Gruenes. "All of the money raised will help to support the staff, students and the SCC Elementary School."
