The Centre sponsors special Youth Day event
Attention all youth: Saturday is all about you.
Youth Day 2009 will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 16 at Citizens Field/The Centre. Admission is free.
Events throughout the morning include a bike rodeo, Junior Skills Olympic Challenge, community youth groups information and booths, thrills and skills games, prizes and giveaways. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
This is the second annual Bike Rodeo in New Richmond, said New Richmond Police Officer Tim Kufus, co-organizer of the rodeo.
"It's a chance for the police department to teach safe riding habits to younger riders," he said. "We'll tell them what we expect of them (riders)."
Additionally, there will be a helmet fitting and sizing. Kufus and other volunteers will check children's helmets to be sure they fit and are worn correctly.
Kufus said children need to bring their bikes to the rodeo to participate. If Youth Day doesn't fit into Saturday's plans, people are welcome to get their bike skills and helmets checked at the police department, Kufus said.
Youth Day is sponsored by the New Richmond Police Department, The Centre, New Richmond Parks and Recreation Department, New Richmond Area youth Sports Association, Westfields Hospital, West Central Wisconsin Regional Grauma Advisory Council, New Richmond Community Education and other local supporters.
