Chamber interviewing director candidates
New Richmond Wisconsin 127 South Knowles Avenue 54017

It may not be too long until the New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce hires a new executive director.

The chamber’s former executive director, Lisa Woletz, took a vice president of marketing position at First National Community Bank in New Richmond, and her last official day with the chamber was March 14. Woletz still puts in some hours to help keep things moving in the interim.

Chamber board members Marie Gremore of WESTconsin Credit Union and Jill Gorres of JA Counter sorted through the 20 applications last week to narrow down the pool.

“We used a scoring system,” Gremore said. “We had six areas that we were looking at: leadership and conflict resolution, community and networking, membership development, career path experience, event planning, and general miscellaneous and residency.”

Gremore and Gorres scored each candidate one, two or three in each of the six areas to come up with an overall score.

“After that, we came up with five applications that we’re pulling up right away for a first round of interviews,” Gremore said.

Most of the interviews had been scheduled for earlier this week, according to Gremore. A five-member recommendation committee made up of two Chamber board members and three members of the New Richmond business community conducted the interviews.

“I think we have a really good candidate pool,” Gremore said. “Even out of all 20 of them, most of them had some kind of experience.”

After this week’s interviews, Gremore hopes the committee can narrow the field to the top three candidates to a final interview with the Chamber Board.

Gremore said she hopes to have a new executive director in place within a month.

“We want to make sure we have the right person, so if it takes us a month to do that, that’s what we’re going to do,” Gremore said. “But I don’t want to commit to a specific time, because if we don’t have the right person, we want to make sure we get that right person.”
