Chippewa County man arrested for shooting family pets in front of children
A Chippewa County man faces eight criminal charges, for allegedly shooting six family pets to death while six kids looked on.
Raymond Knez Jr., 33, of Boyd appeared in court Tuesday.
Authorities quoted him as saying one of the family dogs killed another in a fight on Jan. 27, and he proceeded to drink 26-29 beers over the next 11 hours while deciding what to do.
Officials said he ended up shooting two dogs and four cats in front of the children, ages 10-16. His girlfriend was said to be there as well.
Sheriff's deputies were called a short time later.
Knez is charged with three counts of mistreating animals, three counts of mental harm to a child, reckless endangerment, and possessing a firearm while intoxicated.
