Concert benefits music programs
The musical gamut from rock n’ roll to country will appeal to all ages at Ozzie’s Rockin’ Jam, the fundraising event planned for Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Star Prairie Sports Bar in Star Prairie.
The party will begin at 1 p.m., when the first act, Steve Mireau, guitarist and singer, takes the stage. Other acts include Cap’n i, The Davenports, The Ricks Duo, and The Upside Downers, with more bands possibly being added to the lineup.
A karaoke contest will round out the entertainment, with performances scheduled between bands. The day will culminate in a jam that all bands are invited to join.
Other activities include a silent auction, bean bag tournament, volleyball, and horseshoes. Children attending with their parents will find fun things to do at the Star Prairie Community Center.
A spaghetti dinner will ensure that attendees won’t faint from hunger while they dance the day away.
The event is being organized to remember Jason (Ozzie) Oswald, a local musician who delighted in sharing his music with others. Oswald died in a car accident in November 2011.
Funds raised will supporting middle school music programs in the New Richmond and Star Prairie community.
Ozzie’s Rockin’ Jam is in need of donations of merchandise or services for the silent auction, as well as cash contributions for the fund.
Donations may be deposited to the Jason Oswald Memorial Fund/Ozzie’s Rockin’ Jam at WESTconsin Credit Union in New Richmond.
