Country Splash ready to make a big splash
Float-Rite Amphitheatre and K102 are gearing up for this year's Apple River Country Splash Festival in Somerset, June 17-20.
This is the second year that Float Rite will host the major country music festival. Last year's kick-off event had modest attendance, but this year's festival promises to be bigger and better -- thanks to more advertising and bigger stars.
Two of country music's biggest acts will perform at Country Splash 2009 this weekend.
Among the talent signed for Country Splash 2009: Multi-platinum, Grammy Award Winners, and Lyric Street Recording Artists Rascal Flatts; and Four Time ACM Entertainer of the Year and five time CMA Award Winner Kenny Chesney.
Other acts that will perform are Clay Walker, Darius Rucker, sHeDaisy, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and Jason Michael Carroll.
The fun actually begins tonight (Wednesday, June 17) with a Pre-Splash All-Star Party for everyone who sets up camp a day early.
On hand at the Look Out Bar at Float Rite Park will be live entertainment from a lineup featuring local bands, such as Westbound, ClearBlue, Mike Farmer Band and Hitchville. Also, headlining the Wednesday Party will be Nashville Recording Artist Katie Armiger and Waylon Jenning's brother, longtime band member and manager, Tommy Jennings. Tommy offers a heartfelt and intimate tribute to the life and music of the country legend.
Festival organizers hope music lovers will not only enjoy the many concerts, but they will also take part in other activities in the Somerset area. Weather forecasts look promising for the weekend, with warmer temperatures and dry conditions.
Some side activities include camping, tubing the Apple River, volleyball, horseshoes, and additional musical performances within the Float-Rite campground.
