County fair wraps up another successful year
Though the St. Croix County Fair got off to a rainy start on Thursday, the sun shone the rest of the weekend.
"It went very smoothly," said Dick Sullwold, fair board president.
There were no major issues this year at the fair. Even though it rained on Thursday, there were still many attendees who were bringing in their fair entries.
Sullwold said that from the looks of things, attendance on Friday was up from last year. Since it is a free fair, he said, it is difficult to judge attendance.
Numbers were also up for the tractor pull, from around 1,700 last year to 2,200 this year.
Bingo, which was a new attraction this year, ran into some difficulties. One session was cancelled due to low attendance.
"It was a beginning and a learning experience," Sullwold said.
But other than a few minor snags, the fair was a success.
"All in all, it was a terrific weekend," Sullwold said.
