Crash Thursday on I-94 near Hwy. 95 claims life of Houlton teen
A teenager from Houlton teenager was killed during a snowstorm Thursday, April 18th after he lost control of his 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt while westbound on I-94 near Stagecoach Trail near Hwy. 95. The car crossed the median and struck the trailer of an eastbound semi- unit.
The Minnesota State Patrol identified the victim as Johnathon Pohlen.
The driver of the semi, Roger Wilkins, 51, of Eau Claire, received minor injuries in the crash, which occurred at 3:05 p.m. -- about two miles west of Hudson.
Star-Observer archives indicate Johnathon was an "A" honor roll student at Hudson Middle School during the 2009-10 school year.
He is the son of Lyle G. and Kerrie A. Pohlen, of Houlton, and his survived by at least two sisters -- Michelle, a student at Mankato State University who was named to the Dean's List last year, and Casandra, a UW-River Falls graduate whom the Star-Observer reported is a Staff Sgt. assigned to the 133rd Civil Engineering Squadron at St. Paul, who has served in Iraq with Operation New Dawn -- formerly Operation Iraqi Freedom.
