Monday, October 14, 2013 - 11:20pm

CUSTOMERS OF NEW RICHMOND
MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC UTILITY
New Richmond Municipal Electric Utility has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) to increase electric rates. The adjustment has been requested in order to cover inflationary increases in operational and maintenance expenses and costs associated with maintaining the reliability of the electric distribution system. The last electric rate increase was approved in 2006.
The requested increase in revenues is an overall increase above the electric utility’s present revenues of 2.37%, or $232,697. This request is detailed in the New Richmond Municipal Electric Utility electric rate application submitted to the PSCW on April 3, 2013. After review, Commission staff proposed an increase in rates of $163,169, or 1.66%. The actual change to individual customers will vary with electricity usage, class of service and the ultimate rates authorized by the Commission. If the application is approved by the PSCW, per staff recommendation, the average residential customer using 725 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month will see a monthly increase of approximately $2.45, or 2.98%. All information regarding this application is available electronically at the PSCW’s website: http://PSC.WI.GOV.
A telephonic hearing on the application has been scheduled for November 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the following locations:
