Deer hunter injured in fall in Eau Galle

A deer hunter was seriously injured when he fell from his tree stand Saturday afternoon in the town of Eau Galle.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's report said Jeremy A. Gedatus, 32, Elk River, Minn., reached the top of his deer stand about 20-feet above the ground before he fell and landed on his face.

Gedatus was able to call for help on a cell phone and reported he had no feeling from his waist down.

The accident occurred about one-quarter mile south of County Rd. N at about 3:45 p.m.

He was transferred by Baldwin EMS to Regions Hospital in St, Paul with apparent fractures in his back, face and a hand. Gedatus was expected to have surgery on his back, the report said.
