Democrat seeks 29th District Assembly seat
Jim Swanson, a Democrat, will announce his candidacy for the 29th District seat in the Wisconsin Assembly Thursday.
The 29th District is currently represented by Republican John Murtha, Baldwin. All seats in the Assembly will be open for election Nov. 6.
According to a press advisory, there will be formal announcements of Swanson's candidacy at Point Comfort (Butch's Bay) Park in Menomonie at 10 a.m. and in New Richmond at Jet's Coffee Bistro, 244 S. Knowles Ave., at 4:30 p.m.
"I believe conservation efforts in Wisconsin have long suffered from neglect or outright attack," said the former president of the Wisconsin Muzzleloaders. "It's time for Wisconsin to resume its traditional role as a leader in conservation and environmental protection."
Swanson was named 2011 Outdoor Conservation Educator of the Year by the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation.
He said he will work to conserve Wisconsin's hunting and fishing heritage, to create living wage jobs that support middle class families and to ensure that the quality public education system works for all Wisconsinites.
