Developer Ed Forliti presented a preliminary land use plan to the Hammond Village Board of Trustees Monday night.

Forliti brought a large map of property on the southeast corner of County Road J and County Road T with him to the meeting. He referred to brightly colored spots on the map as areas where he envisions commercial development, industrial development, multi-family housing, some office or retail space and potentially a gas station.

"I'm here tonight to just talk about maybe doing something with the property," Forliti told the trustees. "We're not 100 percent sure what to put out there."

Forliti said he brought his plans to the board to get a sense of what the zoning might be and what the village envisioned how the land should be developed.

The land right now is owned by Meris Investment Group Inc., which was represented by Gary Maas at Monday's meeting.
