Approximately 35 people turned out at the site of New Richmond's new High School to witness the ground breaking ceremony on June 10.

District Administrator Morrie Veilleux welcomed the crowd and made introductions.

Teachers, students and parents, community members, several School Board members, Sen. Sheila Harsdorf and Rep. John Murtha were among those in attendance. Also present were representatives from Armstrong, Torseth, Skold and Rydeen, Inc. (ATS&R), the District's architects, and Bossardt Corporation, the District's construction management company.

School Board President Rick Hinz remarked in his speech that "thanks to the passion, effort and commitment of many, this project will result in a technologically advanced High School. When populated with a re-energized staff, a forward-thinking curriculum and quality leadership, we will have key components in place to prepare our students for what is ahead in the 21st Century."
