Driver flees as three Minnesota passengers hurt in Pierce County crash
New Richmond Wisconsin 127 South Knowles Avenue 54017

A late night crash Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the town of Trenton sent three people from Red Wing, Minn., to the hospital for injuries. One passenger had to be extricated from a vehicle by Ellsworth firefighters. The unidentified driver of a 1998 Buick Regal, eastbound on 825th Street near Hwy. 63, fled before sheriff deputies arrived.

Deputies say the car's driver lost control on a curve. The car flipped on its side, went into a ditch and hit a tree. The crash occurred after 11 p.m.

The injured passengers found inside were: Antonio N. Smith, 21, who was taken to the Mayo Clinic in Red Wing; Erran M. McCray, 29, extricated and also taken to the same clinic; Louis Harris, 29, was taken away by ambulance with minor injuries.

The crash is still being investigated by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
