Dusting of snow causes problems for motorists

Crews work to remove an injured motorists from a vehicle south of New Richmond Thursday.

Slippery conditions on New Richmond area roadways caused several spin-outs and accidents Thursday morning.

A dusting of snow caused more headaches than expected, as emergency crews were dispatched to several incidents in the county.

At around 9:30 a.m., one person was injured when the car they were in left Highway 65 south of New Richmond and entered a snow-filled ditch. The car came to rest near the entrance of B. Dalton Liquor Store.

The New Richmond Fire Department, St. Croix County Sheriff's Department and New Richmond Area Ambulance and Rescue Service were dispatched to the scene.

One person was transported to the hospital due to injuries suffered in the incident.
