Dynamics chosen for WASB convention
The Dynamics, the Somerset High School choral group, has received another prestigious honor.
The Dynamics were chosen as one of the top three performing groups for the Wisconsin Association of School Boards convention in Milwaukee on Jan. 22.
They will be performing at 10 a.m. before the start of the WASB general session. There will be approximately 2,000 people in attendance at the session. They will be performing just before the keynote speaker takes the stage. The keynote speaker is Christopher Gardner, author of "The Pursuit of Happyness" and founder of Gardner LLC.
The Dynamics were invited back after performing at the WASB convention last year. This year, they received one of the top assignments of the convention.
An audition CD of The Dynamics' music was submitted last spring to the Wisconsin School Music Association. That led to The Dynamics' selection. The convention is held at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center.
There are 16 SHS students in The Dynamics. There are 15 singers, 12 females and three males. They are accompanied by SHS senior Brie Crichton on piano.
Rachel Erickson, the director of The Dynamics, marveled at the work ethic of the students in the group.
"Almost all of them are in the school musical. Many of them have jobs. They're academically strong students involved in many school activities," she said.
Yet, the students are dedicated to making the group rehearsals, which are held at 7:15 a.m. most school mornings.
A Somerset community choir is being formed to perform the Hallelujah Chorus at the high school band/choir concert on Dec. 17.
Everyone from the community is invited to take part in the choir. Rehearsals will be held on Monday, Nov. 30, and Monday, Dec. 14, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the high school band room.
