Elaine Shirley Skinner

Elaine Shirley Skinner of Osceola, Wisconsin, died peacefully on July 12, at home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 59 years old.

Elaine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was kind, friendly and generous.

Elaine was born on Feb. 17, 1955, in Little Falls, Minnesota, to Fred and Eunice (Johnson) Lentz. She graduated from Swanville High School in 1971, and continued her education at Alexandria Technical College where she graduated with a Clerical Degree in 1973.

On Sept. 27, 1975, Elaine was united in marriage to Wayne Skinner, in Swanville, Minnesota. Elaine and Wayne lived in Swanville, Minnesota, for several years, where they reared five of six children prior to moving to Wisconsin before having their sixth child. Elaine and Wayne eventually made their home in Osceola, Wisconsin.

Elaine worked at Student Assurance Services in Stillwater, Minnesota, up until the time she could no longer work in May 2014, but her true passion was her family consisting of six children and 14 grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, reading and spoiling her grandchildren with treats and love. Elaine was a wonderful hostess, always making sure people were well fed and comfortable when visiting her home. Elaine was a devoted family person and follower of God.

Elaine will be dearly missed by her husband, Wayne Skinner; her children Steve (Sarah) Skinner of New Richmond, Wis., Leann (Mike) Johnson of Osceola, Wis., Dean (Andrea) Skinner of Cushing, Wis., Krissy (Matt) Gregory of Osceola, Wis., Becky (Matt) Miller of Hager City, Wis., and Bethany (Tryn) McCurdy of Osceola, Wis.; 14 grandchildren, with one on the way; parents, Fred and Eunice Lentz of Long Prairie, Minn.; brothers Richard (Mary) Lentz of Onamia, Minn., and Kenneth (Leann) Lentz of Oronoco, Minn.; and sister Jean (John) Schulte of Upsala, Minn.; eight nephews and seven nieces.

Elaine was preceded in death by mother-in-law, Elva "Peggy" Wildman; great-niece, Brecklyn Abers; grandparents, Iver and Gertrude Johnson, and Fred and Lydia Lentz.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola, and one hour prior to the service at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osceola. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in East Farmington, Wisconsin.
