Emerald motorcyclist in critical condition after crashing into deer
An Emerald man is in critical condition at Regions Hospital after hitting a deer while riding his motorcycle in the Town of Emerald on Sunday night.
Scott Voeltz, 44, was driving a motorcycle north on County Road D near 160th Avenue Sunday at about 8:30 p.m. when he struck a deer, crashed the bike and landed on the road. He wasn’t wearing a helmet, and he sustained significant head injuries, according to Capt. Jeff Klatt of the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.
A LifeLink helicopter responded to the scene and took Voeltz to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., where he remains in critical condition, Klatt said.
