Farm accident leads to fatality
A rural New Richmond man is dead following a farm accident Tuesday, April 24.
The Polk County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the scene of a farm accident near the intersection of 240th Street and Fourth Avenue in the town of Farmington at around 7:37 p.m. Tuesday.
A 911 caller informed dispatch that a farm tractor had rolled over, and a male operator was injured and trapped underneath it. When they arrived, deputies found that James Neidermire, 25, rural New Richmond, was deceased due to injuries suffered in the accident.
According to a report from the Polk County Sheriff's office, Neidermire was plowing near a ditch line when the tractor he was driving became stuck. In an attempt to free the tractor and plow, the tractor rolled over.
The Sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Osceola Fire Department, the Osceola Ambulance Service and the Polk County Medical Examiners Office.
