Fifth inning rally leads Tigers past Altoona

The New Richmond Tigers softball team was able to rally from a 3-1 deficit in the late innings of Tuesday's game to claim a 6-3 win over visiting Altoona. With the win, the Tigers advance to face Baldwin-Woodville on the road in the third round of the WIAA Division 2 Girls Softball regionals on Thursday, May 29.

The Tigers trailed Altoona 3-1 heading into the bottom half the fifth inning of the regional playoff game but they were able to load the bases with no outs to start off the inning. A two-run double tied the game at three and was followed up by a two-run single to make it 5-3 with one out. After Altoona picked up the second out of the inning, a second single brought home the Tigers' sixth run of the game to give them a 6-3 lead. New Richmond's defense came up big in the final two innings, holding Altoona scoreless to secure the win.
