Profits from the pie sale will support the church's efforts to relocate numerous stained glass windows to its new facility off County Road K.

All pies will be baked from scratch by church members during Thanksgiving week. Orders for the pies -- pumpkin, apple, pecan and blueberry -- began on Nov. 9. Orders can be placed directly at First Lutheran Church, via phone to church offices at 715-246-2133 or by emailing your order to office@first daynr.org.

The cost for each pie is a goodwill offering, with a suggested minimum of $10 each. Pies can be picked up at the church Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 2-6 p.m. Delivery options are also available.

"We all know there's nothing like a delicious pie at church gatherings," said Pastor Jim Bump. "And, our fundraising committee felt that it was only natural to use our congregation's baking talents for a good cause -- relocating our historic, stained glass windows to our new church. All it takes is a simple donation and First Lutheran Church will make your Thanksgiving less stressful with an amazing dessert. It's also a fun way for us to connect with our neighbors throughout New Richmond."

First Lutheran Church has a long history in the north side of New Richmond, dating back to the late 1800's. The church's stained glass windows were added to the sanctuary in 1969 through donations by various congregational families. The windows were manufactured and installed by Reinhart Art Glass, Winona, Minn., and will be prominently displayed in the new facility's sanctuary to weave the histories together.

Over recent years, increases in church membership, growth of the accredited child care program and accessibility for members created a need and interest for rebuilding the church. In April 2012, First Lutheran Church voted to build a new church and plan to be in the new facility by Easter Sunday of 2013.

According to Pastor Bump, the new location will provide greater accessibility, visibility and room for expansion- -- to serve generations of parishioners. The first phase of construction for the 20,166 sq. ft. facility includes licensed childcare space for 100 children. Total cost will be approximately $2.86 million, and is financed by the ELCA Mission Investment Fund.

First Lutheran Church (ELCA) was founded in 1945 after a merger of the Norwegian Lutheran Church (est. 1889) and the English Lutheran Church (est. 1891), on the north side of New Richmond.

Since its origin, First Lutheran Church has grown from 200 baptized members to more than 2,000.
