First New Richmond baby born Jan. 2
When Tim Cody heard his son was due on Jan. 1, 2013 he felt an extra pang of excitement.
"I knew there was a chance that he could be the first baby of 2013," he said. "I thought that was pretty cool."
Even at a day late, Carson Cody, born Jan. 2 at 10 pound, 6 ounces, still clutched the first baby title.
Tim and his wife, Stefanie, have two other children, Angelena, 8, and Robert, 6. Both said they were excited to finally meet their baby brother.
Stefanie said she wasn't expecting a 10 pound baby, as doctors had predicted a 7 pound baby just three weeks before the birth.
"Both of my other kids were 8 pound babies," she said. "We didn't expect this."
Still, she went through labor without any medication.
"It happened too quickly," she said. "There wasn't any time for drugs."
Tim said from the time Stefanie started pushing, to the time Carson was out, labor lasted about 5 minutes.
"It was very quick," he said.
Several family members had already been to the hospital to welcome the newest member of the Cody family.
"Everyone is really excited because he ties the grandkids," Tim said. "Now there are four girls and four boys."
The Cody family is now settling in to their life at home in New Richmond. Stefanie said she wasn't too worried about the family's growth.
"He's been a really good baby so far," she said.
