First St. Croix County-wide chamber event a success
On Tuesday, Nov. 9, approximately 128 people attended the first annual St. Croix County Chamber Business After Five event at Ready Randy's in New Richmond.
The St. Croix County Chamber was initiated by David Lindquist, past-president of the Central St. Croix Area Chamber of Commerce.
"My initial goal was communication between the chambers and to help each chamber reach out to a wider community," said Lindquist.
He, along with representatives from the Somerset, Hudson, Central St. Croix Area, Baldwin and River Falls chambers, first met on June 23 to try to map out goals for the group, which would include tourism, legislative activities, healthcare and educational activities.
They also decided to plan two large events each year: one being a whole-county event with a speaker and the other being an annual networking event -- such as the Business After Five.
The Nov. 9 Business After Five attracted several representatives from chambers across the county.
"Attendance was much higher than anyone anticipated," said Lindquist. "All the organizers seem enthusiastic about the concept. Working together, we can accomplish much more than any single chamber."
