To be eligible to give blood, donors must be 17 years old, or 16 years old with signed parent consent. Donors must also weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.

First time donors accounted for about 40 percent of the total at Wednesday's drive. First timers include Hannah Elhorn, Hannah Condon, Katherine Redmon, Roxy Vandusartz, Dan Holland, Joe Thompson, Tyler Perry, Andrew Lathe, Cody Olson, Alex Lewis, Alisa Sarnstrom, Abie Offner, Josh Peterson, Pat Wobig, Mackenzie Hughes, Katilynn Pomroy, Jordan Risberg, Joe O'Shea, Adam Klingler, Nikki Brooks, Kim Friedrich, Tyler Whitehead, Emily West, Gretchen Krahn, Hannah Bol, Kelsey Roquette, Robert Olson, Aaron Mead, Logan Kimberly and Joe Hilpert.

Double red cells are donated through a special process called apheresis. Apheresis allows donors to safely donate certain components of their blood in larger amounts. Double red donors at the St. Croix Central drive were Val Wells, Mike Steinhauer, Adam Klingler, Rob Nourse, Uli Potter-Winzer and Bill Stuessel.

Sue Frank's Career Foods students helped with the snacks and prepared a great meal for the Red Cross personnel.

St. Croix Central's National Honor Society sponsors a blood drive every year in November. Members take on different aspects of making the drive successful.

This year's NHS officers include President Katherine Redmon (recruiting), Vice President Maddie Skaalrud (advertising) and Secretary Hannah Bol (food and refreshments).
